Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Cleaning Tile & Walls

As you can see in the photos, soot from fire gets on everything.  Every nook and cranny including grout of ceramic tile.  These photos were taken after our crew here at SERVPRO located in Lake City, Fl went and cleaned the soot off.  We use specially formulated cleaning agents that aid in the removal of the soot without spreading it or making it stain such items.

We also clean quickly as soot sometimes can cause damage to fixtures and tile if it sets over time.   Soot can cause corrosion if not wiped off of these items then instead of cleaning it will have to be replaced.

We will clean a second time to see if grout will come clean and if not it will be addressed with your insurance and during contracting services we will re-grout if necessary.

The drywall here was also cleaned.  It will be sealed with kiltz and then painted.  The reason for cleaning it prior to painting is because if you paint over the uncleaned wall without cleaning it before, the paint will not stick.  After time you will notice the paint begin to peel.

Be careful if you attempt to clean anything yourself after a fire as the soot can be tricky.  The origin of the fire is very important and what was burned tells us what type of soot it is and how to clean it.  We also look at structural components to determine how to clean and what to use.

Such as flat paint versus gloss paint.  Two different ways to clean such items could result in more work in the end.

If you need help please feel free to call us as we have trained staff to answer questions or come out and give helpful advice and/or an estimate.
